I love predictions of the future that oscillate between “eerily prescient” and “what the hell are you talking about?” Like that description of the year 2,000 written in 1933 where the author predicts flatscreen television, the glass wall trend in the homes of the wealthy, and the obsolescence of stuffed mattresses, but is also convinced that normal showers will be replaced by a device called the VAPOR LANCE that VAPORIZES the DIRT on you

Sometimes Apollo hits writers with prophecy and sometime it’s Hephaestus trying to make a pitch for his new product

i love how there’s the genre of fix-it fic where the author goes into great granular detail of how our heroes manage to avoid or undo whatever character death or other unpopular choice occurred, in a way that abides by the laws of the fictional universe and definitely required a substantial plot outline, and then there are fix-it fics where the author just went “that’s bullshit and didn’t happen,” and we as readers all go “agreed. carry on.”

if you’re having a bad day, here’s a cute little marching band

this actually made me cry with joy also one of them is eating noodles

It just keeps going and getting better. *^^*

Me two minutes ago: “cry with joy? an animation of cats playing instruments made someone cry with joy?”

Me now: (sobs into a tissue) “OH MY GOD THAT ONE IS PLAYING TWO RECORDERS AT THE SAME TIME” (blows nose)

CAT PARADE IS BACK

there are SO MANY cute little details in this

So I was looking for the full version of this video cause i always get sad when this one cuts off the ending and–

not only has the original creator made an HD version,

they also made a reanimated “deluxe” version! with even more cute easter eggs!

I really appreciate that the animator took the time to introduce new instruments as they appear in the music, so that all the instrumentation is accurate. Really warms my musician’s heart.

one of the best lessons i’ve ever received was given to me when i went to acting camp in fifth grade.

every kid in the camp would perform a monologue. and after each person went, the camp leaders called on us. and we would have to say something we liked and didn’t like about their performance.

the thing way, one teacher instructed us to replace the “but” with an “and.” so rather than saying, “i liked how you pronounced the words but you were too quiet,” she would make us say, “i like how you pronounced the words and you were too quiet.”

and you don’t realize how much one word can change a whole mindset.

my teacher told us to do this as it was teaching us good and bad can exist at the same time. you can be good in one area in bad in another at the same time.

and that’s something i’ve tried to apply throughout my life. always remembering to replace that but with an and.

“i had a good day and i have depression”

“i went through something really hard and others have gone through things harder than me.”

“it’s super hard for me to eat full meals and i’m going to eat a full meal.”

“i ate a full meal today and i still have an eating disorder.”

“i’m sad and others around me are happy”

it’s something you can always apply to validate your feelings without making it an all or nothing. you can experience a negative and a positive at the same time. it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. replace your but with an and.

The fact 100% of the members of Green Day are bi is so funny to me because they’ve been a band since high school and that has to be the most perfect representation of the classic case of one person in a group coming out as queer and then everyone else comes out and you realise you were all queer all along

i almost forgot this blessed video exists

Wait there’s another one of these

If memory serves, what happened was that someone took a video of a Ukrainian military band playing some other song and dubbed a realistic-sounding version of A Cruel Angel’s Thesis over it. This proceeded to be everywhere on the internet, enough so that the band that put on the original performance caught wind of it, and decided to capitalize on its popularity by actually performing the song. This video is the latter version.

have you ever noticed you pick up little habits and phrases from the people you love? it’s no wonder our hearts are so easily broken when people leave. we become a reflection of the people that we care about and those personality traits stick with us even if the people don’t

I make my ramen the way a friend taught me in eleventh grade. Every fall, I listen to a playlist made for me by a boy I drove across a border to hook up with. I eat sushi because a girl who won’t talk to me anymore made me try it, and Indian food because my best friend’s parents ordered for me before I knew what I liked. There are movies I love because someone I loved loved them first. I am a mosaic of everyone I’ve ever loved, even for a heartbeat.

just a reminder that “being gay isn’t a personality trait” is just an evolved form of “i don’t care if you’re gay i just don’t want to see it”. no gay man thinks it’s their only personality trait, no lesbian thinks it’s their only personality trait, no trans person thinks it’s their only personality trait. you’re just annoyed by someone embracing a large part of themselves and being comfortable in their body and in a community of people like them.

ok i’m going to make a more in depth response to this bc it unexpectedly blew up but i’m seeing a lot of responses and tags about babygays and i need y’all to understand something real quick. y’all need to realize that babygays being obnoxious is literally not harming anybody and we all know it’s a phase they’ll eventually grow out of; it’s really not that deep i promise you. cishet boys and girls can go through phases in their pre and early teens of being “boy/girl crazy” or being obsessed with performing their gender the way they want but when lgbt kids do it then or even a little bit later y’all suddenly have a problem with it. these are just kids, don’t come at them with your own internalized phobias.
